In 1982, Rod Canion founded Compaq. By 1988 he had made them a billion-dollar business. In this talk, we'll look at how Canion built an IT business based on honest communication and management even in the hardest of times. And how, in 1988, he used those techniques to do something everyone said was impossible: keep the PC an open standard, by winning a platform war against IBM.
