UCISA’s Best Practice Guide on Exploiting and Protecting the Network is intended to help universities and colleges maximise the potential of the network at their institutions in a safe and secure manner. There have been four editions; the last was issued in 2011 www.ucisa.ac.uk/publications/exploitingprotecting/
We are seeking a team or individual to undertake a revision of the Best Practice Guide, and to update it with new and relevant content on emerging technology areas including the Internet of Things and material on SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Systems including BMS (Building Management Systems). The author(s) would also be expected to provide, and link to, updated resources that are more widely available.
The project is expected to take three months, with a new Guide to be launched at the beginning of 2015. Institutions/ individuals will be offered a total of £5k to cover a minimum of ten days’ work (including VAT). Travel to project meetings is not required.
To revise the Exploiting and Protecting the Network Best Practice Guide we are seeking:
- either one contributing HE/FE institution (fielding an individual or a team of people),
- or an author from an HE/FE institution,
- or a suitably qualified independent consultant with extensive HE/FE experience.
