UCISA is once again collaborating with our equivalent organisations for HR, Finance, Estates, Librarians and, this year, Strategic Planners and Research Administrators and Managers, to run a series of action learning sets targeted at deputy director (or equivalent) level. Action Learning Sets are a powerful experience for leaders and brings people together to exchange, support and challenge each other in action and learning. The process will help to develop participants' active listening and questioning skills, expose them to different challenges and develop a fresh perspective on issues.

We are now inviting particpation for the 2018-19 sets. Expressions of interest are required by Friday 28th September. Further details of the programme and how to register interest and apply are given here.

The UCISA Privacy Impact Assessment Toolkit explains how to carry out Privacy Impact Assessments, and has been written specifically to meet the needs

of the higher education community. A template for recording the outcomes of a Privacy Impact Assessment is also included within the Toolkit.

A companion document containing a worked example of a PIA for the introduction of Microsoft Office 365 at a fictional university illustrates how the process works and the type of privacy risks that a PIA can highlight.

Congratulations to twenty one colleagues from across the UCISA membership who will be heading to a conference of their choice this year.

Funding from the UCISA bursary scheme gives IT and IT-related staff the opportunity to travel to conferences and keynote technology events they might otherwise be unable to attend, in order to share best practice with the sector.

Funding from the UCISA bursary scheme gives IT and IT-related staff the opportunity to travel to conferences and keynote technology events they might otherwise be unable to attend.

You might be part of a central IT service or working with technology enhanced learning, digital skills development, project management or business change management so no matter what your IT discipline, grade or experience, the UCISA bursary is open to all. We particularly welcome applications from junior university and college staff. If successful, all we ask in return is that you share what you’ve learned with the UCISA community.
