About the Digital Education Group

The Group has the following aims

  • To help university support staff to promote and support the use of new technologies in teaching and learning.
  • To provide a forum for the discussion of, and the exchange of information on the development and use of technologies in teaching and learning.
  • To foster links with relevant groups.

The Group has the following functions

  • Research how the community is using learning technology within higher education
  • Produces reports and articles on technology enhanced learning.
  • Organise workshops and contribute to UCISA Support Services conference.

The Group has surveyed UK higher education institutions since 1980 to capture a picture of how technology enhanced learning technologies are being used and supported. The Group has presented its findings at a variety of forums including ALT-C and at the Heads of eLearning Forum. Information and the results of the TEL surveys are available.

Membership of the group is open to anyone who works in a UK HE institution that subscribes to UCISA with an interest in promoting and supporting the use of new technologies in teaching and learning. It is, however, a working group and members will be asked to contribute to the business of the group. The Group communicates via email and a wiki site and members meet from time to time to progress more urgent items. For further information and enquiries about the Digital Education Group, please contact the group Chair.
