The 2019 Digital Capabilities survey is now open for completion. The survey seeks to establish how institutions are developing staff and students to perform efficiently and effectively in a digital environment. The importance of digital capabilities has been identified in the Teaching Excellence Framework and in Quality Assurance Agency audits.

Individual surveys for each institution have been sent to an identified lead respondent. If you are unsure as to whom the lead respondent is for your institution, please contact admin@ucisa.ac.uk. Details of the survey including guidance on how to complete it are available on the ucisa website.

The ucisa Digital Capabilities Group and Digital Education Group invites you to the fifth Spotlight on Digital Capabilities conference on Tuesday 4th June and Wednesday 5th June 2019 at the Park Inn Radisson Hotel in York.

The theme for this year is ‘Breaking barriers, creating connections’.

We will explore how digital capabilities can help break down barriers, look at transition into and out of FE and HE, how to support students and staff with varying needs and from a wide range of backgrounds, to be inclusive for all. The programme will also include learner perspectives, preparing students to be adaptable, independent and resilient. You will hear experiences from those working across and outside the HE and FE sectors. How partnerships across different teams in post-compulsory education can benefit staff and students.

We are seeking speakers for plenary and parallel sessions from different roles e.g. academic staff, IT trainers, Library and other professional services who can provide delegates with practical advice, approaches and strategies to implement, embed and change their institutions. Improving digital capabilities for both staff and students.

Please submit your proposals using our online form.

Deadline for proposals: Wednesday 23 January 2019.

Submissions will be reviewed by the conference committee. You will be contacted by email with the outcome of your proposal by Friday 15th February 2019.
