CISG Research systems

   Corporate Information Systems Group (CISG)

23 September 2015
Austin Court, Birmingham

Hmm … where to start?  Your focus has been on teaching and learning; improving the student experience has been the motto of the last few years and then, suddenly, your university embarks on a new Research strategy.  Research with IMPACT.  Research with Excellence?

Where do you start?  What does this mean?  How does one resolve the conflict of needing a reliable, sustainable infrastructure and systems to support a good student experience with the need for disruptive innovation required to support Research.  Our ethos has led us to have agreed requirements before we deliver.  How do we transition the mindset to provide only part of a solution where requirements are not fully known?

For some of us, Research has been on the agenda for a long time and, whilst others  can learn from them, we are all facing similar issues around opened access, increasing citations, providing a collaborative environment.  The list is endless.

Together, we can help each other to better support our researchers, so they can concentrate on what really matters to them  and the institution … their research; whilst we take care of the “technical stuff”; thus enabling the UK to remain in top percentile worldwide for our research contribution.

This event is aimed at CIO’s, IT Directors, Librarians, Heads of Information Systems, Heads of Research, Research Service Manager, members of ARMA, Heads of Research Administration etc.

So, come along to the event, participate and network with peers.

Help us to support our researchers today so that they can build tomorrow.
