Users love the new flexible collaborative environments that give them the freedom and ease to create, use and share documents inside and across institutional boundaries. And yet organisations are interested in some of these same environments because they offer a tantalising prospect of finally creating a managed corporate information management environment where so many document and records management systems have failed in the past.
The question is: is it possible for an institutional document and records management system to meet these two seemingly opposite sets of requirements, and what are the risks if it can’t?
In this webinar we will explore the tensions experienced in most organisations between the ways in which users now wish to work and the need to ensure standards of information and corporate governance. We will then use Jisc’s recent experience in implementing SharePoint Online as the basis of its IM infrastructure and how, through innovative technical developments and a holistic approach to information governance, it has taken significant strides towards resolving these tensions and meeting both of these key demands.
The target audience for this webinar are IT managers, records managers, information compliance officers. The webinar will be lead by Steve Bailey (Jisc) and John Maher (University of the Highlands and Islands).
