The CAUDIT HE Business and Data Reference Models

About the Event

To coincide with the release of their new version 2.5, we are very excited to invite you to a webinar with the co-chairs of the CAUDIT Enterprise Architect Community of Practice and architects of the CAUDIT Higher Education Business and Data Reference models.

We anticipate this to be of particular relevance as the CAUDIT reference model was the inspiration and foundation of the ucisa Capability Model and there has been much discussion on our forum over the last year or so around data models. 

We are pleased to have been able to establish a dialogue and working relationship with CAUDIT and hope that our respective communities of practice can work more closely together in the future. If you are not already familiar with the CAUDIT models, there are details below and we know that CAUDIT colleagues will welcome feedback and comments either during the webinar or as a follow up after the event. 

The CAUDIT Higher Education Reference Models provide standardised business and data reference architectures that communicate a generalised view of how higher-education institutions are organised and the information they use. CAUDIT, the Council of Australasian University Directors of Information Technology, first released the reference models in April 2016, and they are now being used by 300 universities throughout the world. 

Ongoing enhancement and curation of the reference models continues actively under the responsibility of a working group that reports into the CAUDIT Enterprise Architecture Community of Practice. This working group released Version 2.0.1 of the reference models in May 2019, and is delighted to announce Version 2.5.0 of the CAUDIT Higher Education Reference Models was launched and made generally available on Wednesday 14 October 2020. 

This latest version of the CAUDIT Higher Education Reference Models includes a full refresh of the Data Reference Model and significant updates and improvements to the Business Reference Model. Change drivers for the new version included stronger alignment between the data reference model and the business reference model, support for non-traditional education products, better representation of the research value chain, and further improvements to the global applicability and use of the models. The models are available now and can be requested from at the CAUDIT website.
