About the Event

The UCISA Spotlight on Digital Capabilities Conference is a virtual event run by the Digital Capabilities Group (DCG) and Digital Education Group (DEG). It brings together university leaders, IT professionals, learning technologists, digital skills trainers, and academics to discuss the latest trends and challenges in digital capabilities.

The rapid rise of AI has dominated a lot of our discussions around digital capability. However, digital capability extends beyond proficiency with AI tools. It encompasses confidence, knowledge, behaviour, and the application of critical judgement to enable staff and students to learn, work, collaborate, lead, and adapt in a digital world. This conference invites contributions that broaden the conversation about digital capability and explore what it means in practice: how institutions build confidence and capability, turn policy into meaningful change, choose and use technologies appropriately, develop adaptable and digitally capable workforce and graduates, and realise value from technology.

We want to hear from you! If you have an interesting story or experience to share that would be appropriate for our DCG and DEG audiences, please complete the below short form, setting out your topic and a brief outline of your proposed session.

We're looking for topics that cover the following themes. If, however, you have an idea that differs from these, we would love to hear it:

  • Digital Capabilities are more than just AI: Rebalancing the Conversation
  • Automation: Choosing the right tool for the job
  • From policy to practice
  • Future and current workforce skills : Building continuous capability
  • Getting value from technology

Should you or a colleague have an idea in mind for presentations, workshops or panel discussions that covers one of these topics, please complete this form by Friday 6th November 2026.
