About the Event

Passkeys are rapidly emerging as the future direction for authentication, offering a more secure and user-friendly alternative to passwords. As the sector looks to strengthen identity security and prepare for a passwordless future, many institutions are exploring what passkeys are, how they work, the unique challenges HE will face and what adoption looks like in practice.

In this UCISA webinar, we'll begin with a short introduction to passkeys and the wider industry shift towards passwordless authentication. We will then hear from Tom Wilson, Chief Information Security Officer, Imperial College London, who will share Imperial's journey to passkeys, including the drivers for change, lessons learned, challenges encountered, and key considerations for institutions considering their own adoption strategy. Additional speakers may also contribute perspectives from across the sector.

The session will conclude with an interactive discussion forum, providing attendees with the opportunity to share experiences, ask questions, and explore how Higher Education institutions can prepare for the next generation of authentication.
