How can universities reduce the environmental impact of AI?
About the Event
Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming part of university life, but what does that mean for our sustainability ambitions? Join the UCISA Sustainability Group to explore the environmental impact of AI, from data centre emissions and energy use to water consumption and large language model training. We’ll discuss practical ways universities can reduce their AI footprint through governance, procurement, behaviour change, and research, and consider how the sector can work together to influence suppliers and accelerate progress. Following the presentation by Dr Hannah Scott, Head of Sustainability Imperial College London, there will be an opportunity for questions and discussion with colleagues from across the UCISA community.
