Practical HERM implementations
About the Event
This session explores the significance of the Higher Education Reference Model (HERM) and learnings from its practical applications, in particular what aligning data-management metadata can tell us about managing a university and achieving practical results.
First, Russell will refresh our understanding of the HERM and its potential to be used as an important system of tools to benefit our approach to data management. He has first-hand experience of how the model was developed and will provide us with a unique insight into this journey.
In the second session, Andrew will then explore how applying the HERM’s Business Capability Model (BCM) can link cybersecurity, data governance and technology lifecycle management. You will hear about the benefits and challenges of implementing them in practice at Imperial College.
Speakers:
- Russell Boyatt, Director of Strategy & Architecture, London School of Economics
- Andrew Lewis, Data Architect, Imperial College London
