Delivering Value Beyond IT: Business Relationship Management in Action

About the Event
In an increasingly complex and digitally connected higher education landscape, the role of Business Relationship Management (BRM) has never been more critical. This one-day UCISA event, hosted by the Engagement Team at the University of Leeds, will bring together IT and strategic engagement professionals from across the sector to explore how BRM can drive meaningful value across institutions — far beyond the boundaries of IT and digital services.
The theme of the day, “Delivering Value Beyond IT”, will focus on how BRM and Business Partnering enables universities to maximise their impact by:
- Breaking down organisational silos: Through strategic partnerships and deep understanding of institutional needs, BRM professionals serve as connectors across faculties, functions, and services.
- Translating business needs into digital value: BRM helps surface and prioritise opportunities where digital solutions can advance teaching, research, and student experience.
- Enhancing stakeholder engagement: Effective relationship management builds trust, aligns expectations, and ensures that digital investments are shaped by, and responsive to, the broader university community.
- Embedding a value-focused culture: BRM fosters a shift from transactional service delivery to outcome-oriented collaboration, supporting institutions in achieving their strategic goals.
The community day will offer the opportunity to showcase real-world examples of how BRM is making a tangible difference, including the University of Leeds’ own engagement journey, and offer attendees practical insights and tools to strengthen their own BRM capability. From strategy to structure, mindset to metrics, the day will be filled with shared learning, inspiration, and actionable takeaways.
This event is ideal for IT leaders, BRMs, engagement managers, and anyone involved in shaping how technology and partnerships can support long-term institutional success.
