Building a Flexible Delivery Framework at Northumbria University

Claire Burn, Director, Delivery & Governance at Northumbria University

Project Delivery at Northumbria University evolved organically until a focused initiative was launched to standardise processes while maintaining flexibility. By leveraging the capabilities of ServiceNow to develop in-house applications, the Delivery Framework was designed, implemented, and embedded across the institution.  Drawing on the most effective elements of established Frameworks, incorporating colleagues’ delivery experience, and aligning with the University’s specific needs, Northumbria has developed a delivery model that works.  This presentation will explore the drivers behind the transformation, outline how the Delivery Framework was conceived and implemented, and demonstrate how it now supports the successful delivery of strategic projects.

Wagile in the Wild: Achievable Agility in Practice at the University of Glasgow
Donnie Carmichael, Senior Project Manager and Ashton Duncan-Whitelaw, Digital Product Manager, University of Glasgow

In a complex and evolving university environment, no single project methodology fits all. This session explores how the University of Glasgow has adopted a "Wagile" approach—blending elements of traditional Waterfall and Agile frameworks to suit diverse project needs. We’ll share real-world examples of how teams have combined the “best bits” of different delivery methods, adapted to governance structures, and navigated challenges along the way
