Digital Badges

UCISA Digital Badges

UCISA members are always generous with their time, expertise and support for colleagues. UCISA has introduced digital badges to recognise members’ achievements, volunteering and engagement with continuous professional development.

Digital Badges - At a glance

  • Digital badges are ways to recognise skills and professional development that you’ve developed through engaging with UCISA
  • Digital badges can be highly visible and contain easy to understand information on what you've achieved
  • Digital badges can be shared on online platforms such as LinkedIn and provide others with insights into your professional development

What are Digital Badges?
Digital badges are a digital artefact that indicates when an individual has successfully demonstrated certain skills or met some specific criteria. Each badge contains metadata about how and when those skills or criteria was earned.

Digital badges are sometimes referred to as micro-credentials and can help prove that you have specific, measurable skills and expertise.

What Digital Badges can I earn?
UCISA will be developing a range of digital badges that fall into three broad categories as shown in the framework below. In the main they will focus on:

  • Recognition - awarded for personal achievements recognised by the community
  • Service - awarded for contributions to enhancing the collective expertise of the UCISA Community
  • CPD - undertaking specific professional development

Further information and help on claiming your Digital badges can be found in the CPD Help and Guidance section.
