Fake alerts on campus or of site closures

We have been made aware that a number of universities have unfortunately been sent fake alerts of coronavirus/Covid-19 cases on their campuses or of a site closure. These alerts have led to extremely high volume of queries from students and in a short space of time. Universities and colleges are advised to reiterate what your institution’s official communication channels are, and what mechanisms you usually use to relay information to students and staff, and to warn helpdesks and support channels.
