Celebrating Success - Delegate Participation

We love to hear from you! The popular delegate presentations and video showcases are back for 2019, but this time with a slightly different spin. We really wanted to celebrate your successes, hear how great your team or your institution are, why you love working in our amazing sector or what you’re really proud of achieving.

Engaging the University Community with Office365

Pamela Stanworth, University of Oxford
The challenge for Oxford’s IT Learning Centre was to spread the word about Office365 across the University community, provoking people’s curiosity and prompting their interest in new ways of cloud-storing, sharing and collaborating.
The “Nexus365 Skills Toolkit” proved a popular and engaging way of getting academics, staff and students hands-on together.

UniDesk - Celebrating Collaboration
Catherine Hetherington, UniDesk Service Owner, University of Edinburgh

UniDesk is in the Top 5 used Service Management systems as reported by the UCISA Corporate Information Systems Survey in 2018. We are unique in the Education sector as an ITIL based shared service management solution which has been extensively tailored by process experts. The commonality in the processes and customisations used across our member institutions is one of our main strengths as a service. The service, which will celebrate its 10th birthday in 2020, has grown from strength to strength since it originated in 2010. We now have 11 academic members of varying sizes with each institution bringing something new to improve the offering along the way. The willingness amongst our UniDesk family to collaborate, share experiences and support each other is a major contributing factor to the continued success of our service.
UniDesk is delivered in partnership with TOPdesk and backed by specialist support from the University of Edinburgh.

Not just a conference!
Su Robinson, Leeds Beckett University

We’re inviting one of our Support Services colleagues to capture a video to celebrate the success of our annual IT Services’ conference. What is the conference about and why do we run it? As is common in larger departments, it is a challenge to get everyone together and meet development needs and preferences. Some folk like competitive outdoors team building whilst others prefer quieter and reflective activities. Traditional ‘Away Days’ and staff development events are valuable but we’ve found that offering a conference style development day meets our colleague engagement needs much better – and is lots of fun. Additionally, we also love the opportunity to bring together our key customers – staff and students; the users of the technologies we are delivering and the suppliers who we work in partnership with to deliver our services!
