Green ICT
Energy efficient computing was identified as one of the top emerging issues in UCISA's biennial Top Concerns survey. Since then UCISA has held two events on sustainable computing.
In January UCISA responded to the Consultation on a carbon reduction target and strategy for higher education in England.
In the same month UCISA and JISC announced their co-sponsorship of the ICT category of the prestigious Green Gown Awards, which are adminstered by the EAUC. The final winner will be announced at a gala dinner in June. The shortlisted colleges and universities for the Green ICT category are:

In addition to these activities UCISA is represented on the Steering Group of the Sustainable ICT Carbon Management Benchmarking project supported by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) and the Scottish Funding Council; and is also a member of the Steering Group for the HEFCE- funded Sustainable Procurement Centre of Excellence for Higher Education.
