UCISA sponsors Green Gown award for ICT

UCISA is delighted to announce that it will be sponsoring the ICT category of the prestigious Green Gown awards. The 2010 awards are being launched today (11th January 2010).

This is the first time UCISA, a membership organisation for IT staff working in universities and colleges, has sponsored a Green Gown award.

Dr Chris Sexton, UCISA Chair comments: “UCISA is very excited to be involved in the Green Gown awards. The UCISA membership identified energy efficient computing as a significant issue in its biennial Top Concerns survey. ICT is a major consumer of power within HE and FE institutions, and the Green Gown award will champion institutions who use ICT in an innovative, environmentally sustainable way.”

The Green Gown awards are administered by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC). There are 12 award categories. Information on applying can be found here: www.eauc.org.uk/green_gown_awards_2010
