Can you afford to ignore Shared Services? This presentation will explore and explain shared services in education including existing opportunities, barriers and challenges. There will be a discussion on how institutions can engage, and what are the pilot opportunities. Building upon this will be an example of Desire2Learn engages in shared service.
campusM and smartphone adoption oMbiel's presentation will look at the trends in SmartPhone adoption within the UK student population and the relative merits of developing specific applications versus browser based solutions. The presentation will describe the campusM delivery architecture, its support for multiple types of phone, its adherence to standards and the benefit of an SOA/Web Services approach to being able to deliver both generic and personalised information. oMbiel will discuss campusM's adoption and Roadmap, before demonstrating campusM for Students.
NorMAN Out of Hours Helpline This presentation describes how this unique national shared service operates and reveals ongoing development plans. The Helpline offers out of hours first line support for IT and library queries throughout the year. In combination with their own daytime helpline service, the service enables subscribing institutions (currently 25) to provide affordable 24 x 365 support to their students and staff.
