Getting the message across

16 November 2010
Austin Court, Birmingham

Paper, email, web pages, board messages, wikis, blogs, Twitter, RSS feeds, text messages, chat rooms .... these are just a few of the options available to us now to communicate with our users.  But how do we know what option to use and in what circumstances?  And how can we be sure that we’ve chosen the right option and that the message we are trying to convey has actually been received and acted upon in the way we intended?

This workshop is aimed at anyone involved in any aspect of communications, and aims to address the above questions, in a combination of presentations and discussion sessions.  A key focus of the day will be to attempt to tease out the pockets of good practice in effective communication that exist throughout UK HE.  Much of this is still, of course, paper based and delegates will be asked to bring with them, to aid discussion, examples of how their own institution communicates with users.
