User Support Conference

1 July 2008   -   3 July 2008
University of Reading

The UCISA User Support conference is organised by two of UCISA's groups: Teaching, Learning and Information (UCISA-TLIG) and Staff Development (UCISA-SDG). It brings together University managers and practitioners from a wide range of areas involved in supporting and delivering IT and Information customer services to share experience, ideas, hear from leading experts and influence UCISA's future work.

The Conference features a rich and varied programme of keynote speakers, plenary sessions and parallel sessions across number of strands, including learning and teaching, user training, skills development, help desks, web development and staff development. Discussion sessions allow delegates to share experiences on the most challenging issues of the day. Supplier presentations will point to potential solutions.

A full social programme provides plenty of opportunities for networking and relaxation.

The theme of the Conference is 'Virtually there'. Our plenary speakers will examine how recent technological developments will affect teaching & learning and staff development and what the teaching environments of the future (both physical and virtual) might look like.

The conference will attempt to address the following key issues:

  • How will new technologies affect the teaching and learning experience?
  • What will the learning and teaching environment of the future look like?
  • Can new technologies help deliver timely staff training and development?
  • How do we continue to improve customer service without additional resources?

We will end the conference with an interactive session which should be both informative and fun.

A wiki has been set up to allow discussion of the presentations and interaction between delegates. See http://usersupport.wetpaint.com/
