Project and change management ‒ why bother?

Austin Court

The UCISA Project and Change Management Group was formed in 2014 in recognition of the increasing importance of successfully managing change within our complex and challenging environment.  Our Group members are dedicated to delivering projects, business change and IT based solutions that are cost effective and deliver real benefits for their students and staff.  Their individual and collective contribution is immense but often goes unrecognised by colleagues and peers.  This is something we want to change.

So, this event, the first held by the new Group, brings together practitioners to network, share experience and learn from best practice across the HE and FE.  We aim to comprehensively demonstrate the value of effective project and change management through a series of presentations, workshops and case studies which:

  • Compare our challenges with those presented in the commercial sector
  • Explain why change is difficult and provide practical tips on how to deliver success
  • Emphasise the importance of key skills in project management, change management and business analysis
  • Establish and share best practice
  • Promote collaboration between institutions
  • Support professional development

The full Programme will be confirmed shortly.  Our speaker line up will include internationally renowned figures including Gerry Pennell, OBE, the current CIO at the University of Manchester.  Gerry was previously CIO of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) and his insights into bringing external project and change management best practice to the HE sector should be fascinating and worth the registration fee in their own right!

We’re looking forward to a great day which will make a really positive difference to your work at your own institution and help us set the direction for the group over the next year.

This event is aimed at all staff interested in more effective managing projects and change. The sessions will be of particular value to Project Managers, Programme Managers, Portfolio Managers, Change Management Specialists, Business Analysts and senior staff in IT and business functions.

Please join us and find out more.  Hope to see you there!
