This 1030 to 1600 event will consider the issues around the selection and implementation of the various flavours of VoIP technologies, including business class IP telephony solutions.

The main event sessions will cover:
The role of VoIP in a converged ICT infrastructure

  • The different approaches and architectures for VoIP and IP telephony offered by manufacturers and service providers.
  • The future direction for VoIP over wired and wireless networks.

The VoIP learning curve.

  • The highs and lows of implementing VoIP and IP telephony.
  • What the brochures don’t tell you.

Invited supplier sessions

  • Open Standards and SIP
  • Migrating PBXs to VoIP
  • The soft PBX and hosted voice applications.

Open source approach

  • Linux based VoIP applications.

Case Studies

  • We will hear from two HEIs about their experiences from trialling and implementing VoIP

This event is aimed at all those involved in, or currently contemplating:

  • Strategic or tactical deployment of VoIP;
  • Evaluation of pilot VoIP trials; and,
  • Migrating legacy PBX technology to IP telephony.
