Printing your own money?! The cost of printing for an organisation the size of a university is considerable. Traditionally members of staff treat printers as an extension of their PC and regard it as essentially a personal activity. The initial low cost of desktop printers hides the real cost from them. Central control of printing can save a considerable sum of money and can significantly reduce the institutions carbon footprint. Stuart Wright & Martin Connell show how an institutional print strategy has been implemented at Liverpool John Moores University for both staff and students.
