Directors' Forum on leadership
27 January 2009
- 28 January 2009 Radisson SAS Hotel, Manchester Airport
The second Directors’ Forum on Leadership seeks to build on a number of the themes explored in the 2008 event held in Cardiff in January. The event will begin with dinner on the evening of the 27 January and will continue to approximately 1630 the following day. The intention is to focus on the following three key areas, covering some of the themes highlighted in each area:
Strategy – building up strategies, ensuring the IT strategy and institutional strategies are aligned; strategy management
Authority – “making your own authority” and sharing this role across the organisation; managing upwards and managing your stakeholders
Responsibility - acting as the change champion, the wider leadership role
The presentations raised a number of questions. Time did not permit a full discussion of these points but they have been posted in Peter Tinson's blog to allow further discussion.
Three attendees - Chris Sexton, Graham Hill and David Harrison - published blogs on the event: Leadership and strategy The inspired leader Leadership event Now step forward
In addition, David has published thoughts from Stuart Brown (Oxford Brookes University) which attempt to summarise the distinctive features of a new relationship between the information systems and technology operation (IT) and its host organisation. Thoughts and comments on Stuart's paper would be welcome. If you have any queries regarding this event please contact admin@ucisa.ac.uk.
