Aims and Objectives
Aims
- To provide a forum for the discussion and exchange of information on the provision of management information, administrative computing and related corporate services within UK higher education institutions.
- To consider the need for and, where appropriate, to develop and to advise the UCISA Executive on common views, approaches and policies on national management information issues.
- To promote a dialogue with influential bodies concerning the existence or otherwise of common views, approaches and policies.
- To provide a base for further cooperation between higher education institutions where appropriate, particularly in relation to best practice.
- To establish and foster links with related groups.
Functioning UCISA-CISG carries out its functions principally by:
- Providing a forum for the consideration of views and policies on issues related to corporate information systems.
- Consulting on, developing and promoting common views to external bodies such as Funding Councils, JISC,UK Universities,HE Quality organisations,UCAS and HESA.
- Disseminating information to colleagues through workshops, meetings, mailing lists and the website.
- Organising an annual conference.
- Co-operating in the organisation of training with the UCISA Staff Development Group (UCISA-SDG) and liaising with the UCISA Software Group (UCISA-SG) to represent corporate software issues.
- Disseminating views, opinions and knowledge from external bodies.
- Publicising via UCISA News, UCISA web site, the group mailling list and other correspondence
- Developing mechanisms for partnering arrangements with members, where the group can provide support for (though not lead) initiatives, and can provide dissemination through UCISA communication channels.
- Organising liaison and task groups to address specific matters.
- Other specific initiatives including working groups.
- Co-operating with other UCISA groups and working parties.
- Co-operating with other relevant bodies.
