World Café

From servers to services − the human aspects of delivering sustainable IT services

This year’s World Café session will take an interactive, entertaining and thought provoking look at the way IT service delivery is changing and the leadership challenges inherent in developing our teams for the future.  The session will build on the Conference theme of sustainability and will explore the nature of the IT team of the future and the priorities for IT leaders in building that team.

Using the collective insight and wisdom of the delegates, both from within HE and from our commercial partners, this session will explore different perspectives on what it means to be an IT leader in higher education today and the role IT leaders will play in delivering the change agenda.  It will provide the opportunity to understand the perspectives of other delegates and through a lively debate develop the characteristics of a model for the future.

In 90 minutes, we will explore key aspects of sustainability for the IT team and the IT leader.  Delegates will work in groups discussing questions about key topics, with the opportunity to contribute to the collective output of the session.  The key themes and topics will be taken from this collective output and will be presented to the Conference on the final day.

The session will be facilitated by John Hemingway (formerly CIO of Sheffield Hallam University) and Trudy Newton from the University of Derby, with assistance from a number of table hosts.

The output from the session is now available here.
