Service Oriented Architecture
8 June 2007 Hilton Birmingham MetropoleEfficient businesses are underpinned by integrated business systems. But the need to integrate disparate systems is something that higher and further institutions have long struggled with and as a consequence many of the benefits of deploying specialist software have been lost. Institutions need to deliver efficient services to an increasingly demanding customer base; service oriented architecture (SOA) promises to deliver the business agility and IT flexibility to allow an institution to respond to demand and deliver quality services. Although SOA has been widely adopted in the commercial sector, it has yet to make an impact in the H/FE sector. This forum will feature presentations from the private sector on the benefits of SOA and case studies from institutions that have started to deploy it.
