Many institutions now recognise the need to implement a formal Information Security Policy. The British Standard BS 7799 for Information Security Management provides the framework but it needs to be interpreted for use in education. The UCISA Information Security Toolkit, produced with funding from JISC, sets out the components needed to develop the policies required for institutions to comply with the BS 7799 standard. This Forum will formally launch the second edition of the Toolkit and will present experience of implementing the Toolkit in the sector.
