Staff Development Group Best Practice Award

Submissions are now invited for this year’s Staff Development Group Best Practice Award. The theme of the award is “Doing More with Less”.

The aim of the Award is to focus on using staff development opportunities provided within the everyday life of an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) team in member institutions. We are particularly interested in receiving submissions that clearly demonstrate efforts that have delivered innovative solutions in an era of “budgetary constraints combined with increasing user demands for ICT services”. The focus must be on “end-user benefits” associated with staff development and not specifically upon the successful completion of a particular piece of work. In particular, references to your institution’s strategic goals or equivalent corporate statement will strengthen your submission.

A successful submission must demonstrate innovation; provide clear evidence of how participants’ skill sets have been enhanced to the benefit of themselves and their institution, and demonstrate a clear return on investment. You must include appropriate financial evidence, for example the cost of the initiative and the financial benefits achieved by the investment. In addition you should highlight the pedagogical model adopted.

The closing date for submissions is Tuesday 1 June. For details of how to enter and the judging criteria see www.ucisa.ac.uk/members/awards/bestpractice.aspx
