Service availability - is 24x7x52 really necessary?
14 January 2010 Liverpool John Moores University
We are all under increasing pressure to provide continuous access to systems and services, often around the clock. Indeed, the 2008 UCISA Top Concerns Survey highlighted this need by the joint 6th ranking of IT/IS service quality and Service availability and resilience concerns. But do institutions really need 24x7availability? Is it required across all services? How can IT staff target their often limited resources on making the right systems available at the right time? Can technology help?
This UCISA Infrastructure Group event aims to show how one institution really understood what was mission critical to its business, how working from home may not always be answer to a disaster, and how technology from Oracle, Microsoft, VMWare and FalconStor might help improve the availability of your systems and so avoiding painful outages.
The event will be on the Liverpool John Moores University campus in the new Art and design Academy building, which is located in the heart of Liverpool’s creative quarter.
