Desktop and Application Virtualisation Seminar

26 June 2008
University of Leicester

A number of Universities are beginnning to implement services utlising Application and/or desktop virtualisation techniques. Application virtualisation aims to improve application compatibility (in particular for legacy applications) and manageability by encapsulating applications from the underlying operating system on which they are executed.

Of particular interest is the possibility to deliver virtualised applications to students' own PCs. Desktop virtualisation can deliver an entire virtualised desktop service including the capability to support multple operating systems on a single platform.

Through a mix of case study and supplier presentations, this seminar will provide an overview of current technologies for delivering desktop and application virtualisation services.

The event will be on the University of Leicester campus in the John Foster Hall which located at the University's Oadby site, 2.5 miles from the main University campus
