21 May 2006
Gilbert Murray Hall, University of Leicester
This biennial event has now become a regular feature in the UCISA-CISG calendar giving a platform to both HESA and UCAS to report on current developments and future plans, and has now been extended to include a presentation from the Student Loans Company. The aim of the briefing is to inform senior managers with responsibilities in these areas of developments and give the opportunity to discuss issues with representatives from the three organizations and colleagues within the sector.
The morning sessions are presented by HESA and the Student Loans Company. The presentation by Professor Robin Sibson, Chief Executive of HESA, will address how the role of HESA has developed and will continue to develop in response to changes in higher education and the broader environment. In this context, and of particular relevance, Andy Youell, Director of Quality and Development, will report on the redevelopment of the HESA Student Record.
The presentation given jointly by Wael Shawish, Project Manager, Danny Angus, Lead Technical Consultant, and Kevin Paul, Technical Analyst, of the Student Loans Company will address the changes coming into effect for the next academic year with the introduction of the new Student Financial Support Scheme, and planned developments for future years.
The afternoon sessions are given over to UCAS. For the first session, Janine Green, Development Manager and Ismail Badat, Business Systems Manager, will give a presentation titled ‘Delivery of the UCAS Roadmap’ which will report on the UCAS vision and its strategic objectives, including how UCAS is achieving its objectives together with how policy changes within the sector affect UCAS and its customers. For the second session of the afternoon, the presentation by Sue Matthews, Data & Information Manager, covering Data Quality and National Initiatives will look at UCAS’s approach to the national data initiatives and their impact on UCAS and its member institutions. This will be embraced within the company’s developing data management strategy to collect, store and share quality and consistent data.
