The Myths and Realities of Shared Services

The verdict is out. Higher education is going through one the most profound budgetary crisis in years. Institutions are having to innovate and maintain quality in the backdrop of limited resources and increased competition.

The aim of this Shared Service meeting, prior to the start of the UCISA2010 Annual Management Conference, is to explore and explain another option for institutions. Presentations and discussions alike will provide an overview of shared services in education including existing opportunities (e.g. JISC Flexible Service Delivery Programme), barriers and challenges. We will discuss how institutions can engage, what are the pilot funding opportunities and present an example of one supplier that is offering a new business model.
